There You Are

I know who you are

I've met you before

I saw where you lingered

Behind every door

I walked into rooms

Your presence was there

Filling the space up

With love and with care

I asked you for wisdom

You answered with a sigh

I leaned in

And learned how to fly

I asked you for help

You gave me something to learn

Some things were simple

Some really burned

I asked you for strength

You gave me a puzzle

I got through some things easy

Others left me befuddled

I asked you for calm

You gave me a storm

I made my way through

To where the weather was warm

I asked you to see me

I asked you for love

It was then that I witnessed

A song from above

Because only when I came

With my heart on my sleeve

Looking for realness

And being who I should be

Myself

Unabashed

No graces or airs

You opened your door

And pulled out a chair

And there I sat

In your sitting room by the fire

Chatting with you as the flames grew higher

You saw me

And I saw you

In that sweet moment

I categorically knew

That this was the beginning

Of something I never dreamed

A relationship

That I didn't know I'd need

But one that has filled me

And keeps me in flow

And the best thing about it ...

There is a lot in motion these days folks, things are shifting and changing, fading and growing, and the best thing to do in a time like this is to stay rooted. Something I am learning to do all the time.

Its funny how awesome it is to be present to all the moments, not just some of them, and to catch yourself in the moments you're mind is wandering into the past or the future. There is so little to be gained in either place, but so much to be gained from being in the now, being true self, being open and aware, and being grateful ... so incredibly grateful.

I wasn't sure what I was going to write to you today but ... the above poem came through and so ... if it resonates, if you feel yourself in it, I am sending you all the hugs and love you can shake a stick at.
