Opportunities & Inspiration

Sitting on my couch looking out the window injoying a lovely coffee on Sunday morning, I noticed something cool.

From the position I was sitting in I could see across my garden, to the green area in my little neighbourhood, a row of trees and bushes and then … there’s the road with lots of cars driving on it.

The first gap, I called it a window, in the trees I saw was a little one, small enough to just be able to see a piece of each car as it went by. I began to smile as my thoughts formed and I knew a cool lesson was incoming.

This little ‘window’ in the trees that I could see through from my comfy position on the couch, represented opportunities (cars) passing by. I could only see glimpses of those opportunities because the window was small and I was happy in my comfy spot … let’s call it my comfort zone.

I looked a little to the right and there was a bigger ‘window’. I could see more of each opportunity (cars) as they passed, but still not the whole thing, and they were going by pretty fast so I wouldn’t have had the time or reflexes to reach out and grab one fully. And I made note of the fact that I didn’t really have to move out of my comfort zone for that window either. All I had to do was move my head, but I was still firmly sitting in my comfort zone.

Interesting.

I was smiling at this stage because I got a glimpse of what was to come as the rest of this formed.

I looked even farther right and saw that there was a huge window (gap in the trees) that allowed me to see multiple opportunities in full as they passed by, but in order to see them fully, I had to move physically. I had to scootch forward on my couch, twist my entire body, and by the time I had the full view of the window and all that was passing it, I was on the edge of my seat, hanging off the side of my comfort zone by one arse cheek. It wasn’t very comfortable at all, but those opportunities felt way more real and tangible.

And then came the final piece of this beautiful lesson … I recognised that in order to be where the opportunities were, I would need to go outside my house, leave the comfort of my couch, walk across my neighbourhood in the rain, pass the trees and stand on the path where the opportunities were passing right beside me so I could stop them and take my pick.

Completely out of my comfort zone.

The significance of putting myself where the opportunities are is me getting off the couch and putting myself in a place where there is nothing, no barrier, between me and the opportunities I seek, but more importantly, that are seeking me.

And I always knew this.

I usually do this.

But seeing it in a beautiful story might just let you see it too.

XOXO

Ciara
