So, you have done your first edit, thrown your critical eye over your manuscript, added or taken away, and made whatever changes you felt were needed.
Excellent.
Now it's time to do it all again.
This time it's all about making sure there is total flow, and the grammar and punctuation are all good. I would say perfect but sometimes, no matter how many times you do it, the human eye will miss something THAT IS OK, and if anyone tells you different … ask them are they a robot?
This second round of editing is all about corrections and flow. If you did the first edit well then this one is more of a run through and ensuring it's how you want it for yourself and your reader.
Simple, no need to complicate it, just get it done. It will all be worth it.
It is also worth noting that - you can get someone else to do the editing for you but it is a much more expensive way to do things. Depending on who you get to edit, how long your manuscript is, and how many edits you need to get done til it feels 'right', it could cost upwards of 20k all in. So doing it yourself is the least expensive money wise, but the most expensive time wise for you.
You are the only one who will know which way is right for you.
Keep your eyes peeled for the article all about the types of editors there are!
Get cracking on Edit 2 and stay focused.
xoxo
